Our principles are simple.
① Scores you upload are private by default — only you can see them.
② Do not upload scans or photographs of commercially published score books.
③ When we receive a valid infringement report, we make the material private immediately.
1. How Uploaded Scores Are Treated
- Score data you upload is private by default and visible only to you.
- Nothing is shown to other users or third parties unless you explicitly choose to publish it.
- You keep the rights in your scores. We process them only as needed to run the Service (storage, display, playback, backup).
- When you close your account, your uploaded score data is deleted with it.
2. What You May and May Not Upload
✅ Allowed
- Music you composed or arranged yourself
- Public-domain works (author died more than 70 years ago) that you re-entered yourself
- Scores you have explicit permission to use
- Openly licensed scores, used within the licence terms
- Original exercises provided by MusicHall
🚫 Not allowed
- Scans, photographs or copies of commercially published books
- Works still in copyright, entered or arranged without permission
- Publishing protected scores without the rights holder's consent
- Score files taken from someone else without permission
- Material whose rights status is unclear
3. Determining Whether a Work Is in the Public Domain
- Under Korean copyright law, economic rights generally subsist until 70 years after the author's death. After that the work may be used freely.
- However, a free work does not mean a free edition. The following may be separately protected:
- Modern typeset editions produced by publishers
- Added commentary, translations, fingerings and similar creative additions
- Compilations where the selection and arrangement are themselves original
- So even for a public-domain work, scanning a commercial edition is not permitted. Please re-enter the notes.
- Copyright terms differ between countries. If you are using the Service outside Korea, it is your responsibility to check local law.
4. Material Provided by MusicHall
- The original exercises created by MusicHall (graded course pieces, vocalises, sample scores) belong to the Company.
- You may use and print them freely for personal study and for non-commercial rehearsal by your choir or class.
- Reselling them or distributing them commercially requires prior agreement.
- Arrangements you generate with the automatic arranger belong to you. Where the source melody is someone else's work, the original author's rights remain unaffected.
5. Score Recognition (OMR)
- If you photograph a copyrighted score, the recognised output remains within the scope of the original work's rights.
- Machine conversion does not extinguish copyright.
- Recognition accuracy is not guaranteed; you are responsible for checking the result before using it.
- Uploaded source images are deleted automatically after a set period following conversion.
6. Reporting Infringement (Notice & Takedown)
A rights holder who believes their work is being used without authorisation may request suspension of reproduction and transmission under Article 103 of the Korean Copyright Act.

7. How We Handle Reports
1Receipt and review
We review the report and the supporting evidence, and ask for more information if the report is incomplete.
2Interim measure
If the report appears justified we make the material private without delay and notify the member who posted it, with reasons.
3Counter-notice
The member may request reinstatement by showing that they hold the necessary rights.
4Reinstatement or removal
If the counter-notice is justified we notify the reporter and reinstate the material; otherwise it stays private or is deleted.
5Continuing disputes
Resolved by agreement between the parties, by mediation at the Korea Copyright Commission, or by a court.
8. Repeat Infringers
- A member whose material has been removed for infringement three times may lose upload privileges.
- Serious or wilful infringement may lead to termination of the account after notice.
- The same applies to anyone who repeatedly files false reports.
9. Our Responsibility
- We are not obliged to monitor uploaded material continuously.
- Once we become aware of infringement, we act without delay.
- Where a member's infringement causes us loss, that member bears responsibility.
